Template:Cite ECCP/doc

Template for citations to Eminent Chinese of the Ch'ing Period, a U.S. government book of biographies of notable people from China's Qing dynasty. Some of the biographies are available online at http://www.dartmouth.edu/~qing/WEB/. The rest are downloadable as a desktop application for MacOS and Windows (see http://www.dartmouth.edu/~qing/).

Usage

The template is a wrapper for {{cite book}}, with the following parameters supported. All parameter names must be in lowercase.

url

The URL to the online page. Omit if not available online.

title

The title of the biography

author

Name of author (use instead of first and last)

first

First name of author (use instead of author)

last

Last name of author (use instead of author)

authorlink/author-link

Name of Wikipedia article on author

coauthors

Name of co-authors (if any)

page/pages

Page number(s) (use one or the other, not both)

volume

Volume number (if known)

year

Year (useful in Harvard citations if multiple ECCP articles by the same author are cited, see ref parameter below)

quote

Quotation

ref

If blank, defaults to harv. See Template:Citation/doc#Anchors for Harvard referencing templates for more info.

short

If set to any value, will abbreviate the book title to ECCP and will omit the publisher (United States Government Printing Office). Leave blank or omit to not abbreviate.

link

If set to any value, will remove the wikilinks to the ECCP book and the United States Government Printing Office. Leave blank or omit to include the links.

Usage notes

The template does not include an item bullet and so is easy to use in a footnote citation. In a list, the template should be preceded by an asterisk, as specified in the usage section above.
