- The original text doesn't specify that the sultan was blind (he may have simply had poor vision), and we can't really know the mob's motivations. ALT1 is better but not quite right: "while" is ambiguous, and "assassination and "coup d'état" are both misleading. How about: "... that when an angry mob overran the palace in Granada in 1309, they spared the sultan, but made sure to kill his vizier? DS (talk) 22:38, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
