Butt-Millet Memorial Fountain
- ... that the U.S. Congress and President both had to give approval to build the Butt-Millet Memorial Fountain (pictured), which memorializes two men who died in the sinking of the Titanic?
ALT1:... that because William Howard Taft lost the 1912 U.S. presidential election, there was no ceremony to dedicate the Butt-Millet Memorial Fountain (pictured), which memorializes two men who died in the sinking of the Titanic?

- 16px This article is good to go! The prose length, date of creation, and the sources (those that I could locate on Google Books and Google News) check out and meet DYK criteria. I assume good faith on the offline sources cited in the article. I prefer the second hook, but both are formatted properly and cited in the text. --Caponer (talk) 03:23, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- Striking ALT1, since at 221 characters including spaces it is well over the maximum length of a DYK hook. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:52, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- Here's a shorter version:
- ALT1A:... that because U.S. President Taft lost the 1912 election, there was no ceremony to dedicate the Butt-Millet Memorial Fountain (pictured), which memorializes two men who died on the Titanic? --Orlady (talk) 14:47, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
- Looks good; don't know why I couldn't think of doing that last night. Orthography question: the article title and infobox gives the name of the fountain in italics: is this because it's a work of art and that's its official title? If so, shouldn't it be listed that way throughout the article ... and in the hook? The article should be consistent with itself, and DYK should agree with the article.
