James Robb (golfer)
- ... that golfers James Robb and Clifford Lingen halved the 6th hole with scores of 9 in the 1906 Amateur Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club?
Comment: Newspapers reported that the play at the hole "was the worst exhibition of golf that has probably ever been seen in a great match.”

This article is new enough and long enough. It is neutral and I found no close paraphrasing issues. I think a QPQ needs to be done for this nomination. I would also like to suggest you incorporate the quote you give above into an alternative hook because, to the uninitiated into golf parlance, "halving the sixth with a score of 9" will seem an unremarkable occurrence.
