Macroolithus

  • ... that pigments found in fossil eggshells of Macroolithus indicate a blue or green coloration, possibly with speckles? Source: "Thus, while the precise colour of the dinosaur eggs cannot be reliably reconstructed, it likely would have been olive green in immaculate eggs or speckled brown on a bluish background if the eggs were maculated. However, we can assume that the overall colour impression of the Heyuannia eggshell ranged from blue to green" [1]
    • ALT1:... that some specimens the fossil egg Macroolithus have been found with embryos of oviraptorid dinosaurs inside? Source: Cheng et al. (2008)
    • ALT2:... that the fossil dinosaur egg Macroolithus may have survived into the early Paleogene? Source: Zhao et al. 2002 [2] and Zhao et al. 2009 [3]

  • Symbol voting keep.svg This article is a five-fold expansion and is new enough and log enough. Approving ALT0 and ALT1, which both have inline citations. I don't care for ALT2; how can a fossil egg, dead by definition, "survive" into the Paleogene? The article is neutral and I did not find any copyright issues.
