Red x.png This proposal was rejected by the community. It has not gained consensus and seems unlikely to do so. Per Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines: "A rejected page is any proposal for which consensus support is not present, regardless of whether there's active discussion or not. Consensus need not be fully opposed; if consensus is neutral on the issue and unlikely to improve, the proposal is likewise rejected."

To include a shortcut, pass a parameter: {{Failed proposal|[[WP:SHORT]]}}. For related Wikipedia header templates see Template messages/Project namespace.

Rejected proposals are listed in Category:Wikipedia rejected proposals.

When adding this template, it is probably worthwhile editing the text of the page, as following:

  • Strike-out any requests for comment, voting etc
  • Change phrases such as "vote here" to "review votes here"
  • Add the date that the policy became inactive at the top
  • Provide links to any new proposals that superseded it, if known.
