Plot
Based on the 2012 MSNBC documentary, Bryon Widner was one of the FBI's most sought after white supremacists. Covered in racist tattoos from head to toe that he earned performing hate crimes, he conducts a destructive life and is headed down the path of no return. When he meets Julie and her three young daughters from previous relationships, the responsibilities of fatherhood give him the desire to leave the movement behind. He endures death threats and harassment from his old gang while attempting to turn his life around. With the help of the FBI and SPLC, he undergoes 25 brutal tattoo removal surgeries in exchange for decoding the tattoos covering his body, which culminates in the arrest and conviction of his former gang. [1]
Pro
The movie depicts how a young white suprematic decided to leave the hatred in his life and change his racist behavior that defined his life for so long. The one that makes he change is because of his girlfriend.Julie has changed her mind about her old racist behavior and thought patterns, and she gets Babs thinking about his own. [2] For his redemption he had two years of painful laser treatment to remove all the racist tattoos that covered his body, neck and face.[3]
But what “Skin” optimistically suggests is that if someone so deeply entrenched in hatred can turn his life around, maybe there is indeed hope for others."
Black Racism
It’s this new relationship that makes him think twice about knifing black kids and torching mosques as a member of the racist Vinlanders Social Club and so the film follows his attempts to extricate himself from his “family”.
