Usage

This subtemplate produces references for speaker data on language articles. If the number of speakers is taken from Ethnologue 17, enter ⟨e17⟩ in the 'ref' field, and a footnote will be generated that links to the page on Ethnologue article, based on the language's ISO639-3 code. This footnote can be linked to elsewhere on the page with <ref name=e17/>. (⟨e16⟩ and ⟨e15⟩ can be used for the 16th and 15th editions.)

References (from the examples)

  5. [5] at MultiTree on the Linguist List

We can't reference the speaker population to Ethnologue if there is no Ethnologue page to refer to. Technically, e15 should generate an error here, but it is rare enough that this is not a likely problem.
