Template:JAH
This is a preview template, designed to facilitate the finding of abbreviations, and creation of various redirects for academic journals and similar publications. JAH stands for Journal Abbreviations Helper.
Usage
Mode 1
In the first mode, the template supports up to 10 parameters, for 10 different journal names.
{{JAH|JOURNALNAME1|JOURNALNAME2|...|JOURNALNAME10}}
To use the template, put say {{JAH|Journal of Foobar}} in the edit window, and click on Show preview.
If JOURNALNAME exist, you will be presented with something like this JAH/core which can then be used to search for abbreviations.
If JOURNALNAME does not exist, you will then be presented with something like JAH/core The redirect creation links will pre-load a page that can then be saved to create redirects from JOURNALNAME to the page the template is previewed on. For instance if JOURNALNAME is a former name of the journal, click on "former name", to create a redirect tagged with {{R from former name}}.
However, to create a redirect from an abbreviation, you first need to find the abbreviation (e.g. J. Foobar), and preview the page again to get JAH/core You can then click on the appropriate link (e.g. 'ISO 4 abbreviation' for an ISO 4 abbreviation) to pre-load a page that can then be saved.
If you can include multiple former names and abbreviations at once, e.g.
{{JAH|Proceedings of the Foobar Society|Proceedings of the Foobar Society of London|Proc. Foobar Soc.|Proc. Foobar Soc. Lond.}}
which will give something like JAH/core JAH/core JAH/core JAH/core You can then click on the relevant redirect creation link.
Mode 2
In the second mode, the template supports two parameters. The first for the journal name, the second for the ISSN.
Put say {{JAH|Journal of Foobar|0123-4567}} in the edit window, and click on Show preview.
You will be then be presented with something like this JAH/core JAH/core which includes extra 'alt' search links for NLM and MathSciNet.
