Usage

This template is used inline in article prose or in tables and lists to indicate that the text in the first parameter is in the Middle English language. It automatically italicizes the content by default as something other than Modern English.

{{lang-enm|1=|Middle English content here}}

The |1= part is optional, if the Middle English content does not contain the character "=".

For subsequent occurrences in the same page, the link to the language name should be turned off with |l=n or |link=no:

{{lang-enm|1=more Middle English content here|l=n}}

For subsequent occurrences in the same passage (e.g., a series of Middle English to Modern English translations) it may be helpful to also abbreviate the language name display with |abbr=MidEng or |abbr=ME:

{{lang-enm|1=another Middle English example here|abbr=MidEng}}

Doing so automatically also disables the link, as if |l=n had been specified.
