EKURO SHRINE AND THE UNPROVIDE BABY FOR SACRIFICE


Ekuro is the godless of rural area Akokwa, located
in ideato north local government of Imo State,
Nigeria. It had been into existence for centuries
who they said that settle in Akokwa for centuries
and the spirit dominate the area. It is believed
that he protected, shelter and care for the
indigenes of Akokwa. Scarifies are made to the gods
yearly especially newly born babies of the land to
purify the land. It is a powerful known god that
the indigenes of the neighboring town visitEkuro

shrine in Akokwa

for consultation and incantation. A lot of occult 
group like Ogboo and muoo visit the shrine of Ekuro
for spiritual power.

The chief priest of Ekuro
is the one that understand the language or
words of Ekuro. The indigenes visit the shrine for
consultation, purification ,oath and swear is also
taken there. The shrine is located in Orie market of
the town. 
The Chief priest is replaced or the successor ,
will be the first son of the chief priest whenever
he visit his ancestors. The Ofor (the symbol of
spiritual power of Ekuro) of the Ekuro will fly to
the successor without being held by anybody. The son
will be the only one to hold it anywhere and
anytime. Even on the bury of the late priest, babies
will be sacrifice to him for 
appreciation.

On first June 2000, the priest of Ekuro give off
the ghost after suffering of diseases. And the Ofor
fly to the first son , which he was made the priest
of Ekuro and sacrifices were made for the late

priest

to have a peaceful rest with ancestors. The son of
the late was married with three daughters.

Four years later(first december 2004), the new priest suddenly died. It

had not

happened before in the town of Akokwa. And the Ofor 
was suspended in air in front of the shrine, no one

is

able to go there and picked it. The elders of the
land then suggested that since no one is able, the

oldest man

in the Village by Okoro should go. But he was
strike at once by the gods. There was a calamity 
in the land and they don't know what to do to
appease the god.

So, the Igwe and the elders suggested
that they will consult Iko of uga for there problems
on what to do. They appointed three elders, Mazi 
Odili, Ani and Mmiri for the visitation in Uga.
There visit to Lulu the chief priest of Iko was
successful. That the only solution is that the son 
of the late Priest will take Over.
