Usage

To be used to flag broken footnotes, for instance

This is a sentence with a working footnote.[1] This is another sentence, this one with a broken footnote.[2][broken footnote] This is a third sentence, again with a broken footnote.[3][broken footnote]

The cause of the issue can be varies. Often times, it will be due to

  • The ommission of [1] in a {{cite xxx}} template (those are automatic in the case of a {{citation}})
  • The authors or year are missing/mismatched, or the footnote template is wrongly used (for example, {{sfn|Smith & Hunter (2010)|p=12}} should (in most cases) be {{sfn|Smith|Hunter|2010|p=12}}
  • The full citation is completely missing
