- 1 Derek Zeisman, a Conservative Party candidate, was revealed on January 11, 2006 to have charges of smuggling against him before the courts. Conservative leader Stephen Harper indicated that it was too late to remove him as a candidate but, should Zeisman be elected, he would not be allowed to sit in the Conservative caucus unless he cleared his name.
- 2 Conservative candidate Tony Clement defeated Liberal Andy Mitchell by only 21 votes; because this margin is less than 0.1% of the votes cast it will be subject to an automatic recount which could change the result.
- 3 David Oliver, a Liberal Party candidate, was alleged in an affidavit notorized on January 12, 2006, by his riding's NDP candidate, to have tried to bribe the NDP candidate in exchange for withdrawing from the race. On January 13, Liberal leader Paul Martin announced that Oliver would not be permitted to sit as a Liberal if he were elected.
- 4 André Arthur was elected as an independent candidate in the Quebec City-area riding of Portneuf—Jacques-Cartier.
