Purpose

This template facilitates the citation of articles from the Wikisource project Collier's New Encyclopedia in the manner of {{cite encyclopedia}}.

Usage

{{cite Collier's|wstitle=Collier's article name}} for articles on Wikisource

or

{{cite Collier's|title=Collier's article name}} for articles not on Wikisource. With this option the optional url=url may be wanted:
{{cite Collier's|title=Collier's article name|url=url}}

and with a specification of the optional author, display, vb or noicon:

{{cite Collier's|wstitle=Collier's article name|display=displayed article name|author=author name|noicon=x|vb=x}}

Examples

Simple

{{cite Collier's|wstitle=Jackson, Andrew}}

displays as:

12px "Jackson, Andrew" . Collier's New Encyclopedia. 1921.

With comment

{{cite Collier's|wstitle=Jackson, Andrew}} A popular politician in the formative years of the United States.

displays as:

12px "Jackson, Andrew" . Collier's New Encyclopedia. 1921. A popular politician in the formative years of the United States.

Using display

The mechanics of Wikisource will sometimes require that a link have disambiguation information which is not part of the original title. The display parameter allows this information to be hidden for the purpose of the citation. For example:

{{cite Collier's|wstitle=Monroe (Louisiana)|year=1921|display=Monroe, a city of Louisiana}}

displays as:

12px "Monroe, a city of Louisiana" . Collier's New Encyclopedia. 1921.

Using short

Using short removes the location, publisher and editor.

{{cite Collier's|wstitle=Jackson, Andrew|short=x}}

displays as:

12px "Jackson, Andrew" . Collier's New Encyclopedia. 1921.

Using noicon

{{cite Collier's|wstitle=Jackson, Andrew|noicon=x}}

displays as:

"Jackson, Andrew" . Collier's New Encyclopedia. 1921.

Using vb

If text is incorporated verbatim into an article, the vb parameter can be used to tack on a notice appropriate to the policy in Wikipedia:Plagiarism.

{{cite Collier's|wstitle=Townsend, Charles Henry Tyler|vb=x}}

displays as:

12px This article incorporates text from a publication now in the public domain"Townsend, Charles Henry Tyler" . Collier's New Encyclopedia. 1921.
