Example

Nuvola apps important blue.svg
filename.png, the current infobox image has one or more issues in regard to the non-free content criteria policy, non-free content criteria guidelines, and/or Comics Project infobox image guidelines. These issue(s) are:
  • Fair Use Rationale (FUR) - The FUR for the image needs to include
    1. Why it is used in this article,
    2. Where the file was obtained from (what website or personal scan/capture), and
    3. Where was the image originally published or used?
  • Minimal usage - The image creates a situation where one or more of the spot images are redundant. Those images need to be reviewed to see if they are more than just "This is how the subject of the article looks." See: Full policy
  • Iconic/most recognizeable look - The intent of the infobox image is to use the visual representation most associated with the subject of the article. The current image is either an obscure version of the subject or a "New or soon to be used" look.
  • Head shots - The current image consists only of the subject's head or head and shoulders. The image should cover at least the head and full torso, with a full figure being the most desirable.
  • Contorted pose - The current image shows the subject of the article in a contorted pose or facing away from the viewer. The image should be a clear representation of the subject.
  • In shadows - The current image shows the subject of the article hidden in shadows. Since hiding/lurking in shadows is not part of the "look" of the subject, an image with out such an element should be used.
  • Forced coloring - The current image shows the subject of the article either in the wrong colors or "tinted". Since the intent of the image is to be a visual reference of the subject's standard look, an image with its "normal" coloring should be used.
  • One element among many - The current image depicts the subject of the article as one element among many, either with equal weight or in a minimal role. The image should focus on the subject, either as the sole element or cropped to force that appearance.

Expanded reasoning

Please keep in mind that image taken from source like DC's Who's Who or Marvel's Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe cannot be used within the article.
