Flappy Bird

  • ... that Flappy Bird has been called "the Drug of the App Store"?

5x expanded by Andise1 (talk), Launchballer (talk). Nominated by Launchballer (talk) at 11:04, 1 February 2014 (UTC).

  • Symbol question.svg The article is tagged as outdated. Yoninah (talk) 23:15, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
Template:U has removed them--Launchballer 00:12, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
  • I suggest changing this to something about it being withdrawn, which is the big news today. Rcsprinter (talk) @ 22:48, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
ALT1: ... that Flappy Bird has been discontinued?--Launchballer 23:31, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
  • I'm getting fed up with these "here today, gone tomorrow" apps. They are a dime a dozen... are they really notable? -- Ohc ¡digame! 14:34, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
This one certainly is, because it's received oodles of attention - the announcement that it was to be discontinued spawned 23 news stories. If you're not convinced, AfD it.--Launchballer 15:01, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Recommending some other options:
ALT2: ... that after it was discontinued, people started listing iPhones with Flappy Bird installed on eBay for over $900?
ALT3: ... that one Flappy Bird player claimed it took half an hour for him to even score five points? ViperSnake151  Talk  15:45, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
I personally prefer ALT2, I consider it really interesting.--Launchballer 16:01, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
ALT4: ... that after Flappy Bird was discontinued, an iPhone with it installed was put on eBay for $1,499.99?
ALT1 was very plain and boring, and not really what I was thinking of ALTS2-4 are more the kind of thing though; I prefer ALT2. Rcsprinter (gossip) @ 22:06, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
  • Striking original hook, not present at referenced citation (philly.com) C679 09:27, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
  • ALT2 is incorrect; the phone in question was listed for $1499, from which the Time writer subtracted the estimated value of the phone itself, to arrive at a figure of $900 for just the game. I've corrected this in the article and struck the hook. I've also struck ALT1, because it's incredibly dull. DoctorKubla (talk) 16:18, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
And I consider ALT3 very boring myself! How about

Article is currently redlinked in the article. I'd like thoughts on the hook before I write the article.--Launchballer 17:03, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

Or this one, which I like:
ALT6: ... that eBay listings of Flappy Bird worth over $90,000 were removed for violating eBay's rule stating smartphones must be restored to factory settings before being sold?--Launchballer 21:46, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
Looks like a winner. Just remember that Flappy Bird is italicised The Almightey Drill (talk) 19:18, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
And you can just remember than when it says "please do not write below this line" it means the line, not the actual hidden text! Face-smile.svg The definition of line includes the }}.
ALT7: ... that eBay listings of Flappy Bird worth over $90,000 were removed for violating eBay's rule stating smartphones must be restored to factory settings before being sold?--Launchballer 19:45, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

Created 30 January, 5* expansion 6 February, well sourced. Article: the lead does not need references that appear in the body. Sorry, I do not like the hooks, outdated or too complicated. Can you word something on death threats to the developer when it was discontinued? Or: easy to learn but hard to master? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:42, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
ALT8: ... that the creator of Flappy Bird received death threats after pulling it?--Launchballer 18:34, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Do you intentionally leave open what is pulled? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:04, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Symbol confirmed.svg Assuming that is the case, I approve ALT8, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:29, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
