Johannes Kalitzke

Musiktheater im Revier, Gelsenkirchen
- ... that Johannes Kalitzke, who was chief conductor at the Musiktheater im Revier (pictured) and artistic director of the ensemble musikFabrik, has composed five operas? Source: several
- Reviewed: Obras Son Amores
- Comment: I added the image to illustrate that something shiny is behind the German name ;)

- ALT1: ... that Johannes Kalitzke adapted an Edgar Allen Poe novel into an opera whose score "could be a musical representation of the world of Hieronymus Bosch"? Source: [https://www.boosey.com/cr/news/Johannes-Kalitzke-Pym-premiere-in-Heidelberg/100850 "... over the course of 90 minutes, a hellish trip has unfolded with such considerable orchestral energy and varied diversions that it could be a musical representation of the world of Hieronymus Bosch… With its strong pull, it’s clear how effective this music is."
- Thank you for the suggestion. I have my concerns because you may overestimate the number of readers who known Poe and Bosch ;) - Also: note that your part of the quotation omits "could be", and that it's all the critics ideas, not something the composer wanted to achieve. Thirdly, the ALT1 has no time attached, other than an implicit "after Poe", while the image tells us it's rather recent. - Anyway, I moved ALT1 down here, or it would look to later readers as if I worded that. - I also removed the striking of the original hook, because a different reviewer might still it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:58, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
I'm not reviewing this for now since Bryanrutherford0 has already commented, but I would suggest that you propose additional hooks that don't involve Bosch. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 22:58, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
- I don't know whom you are addressing. ALT1 is by Bryanrutherford0, for clariry. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:13, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
- Ah, I misread. Sorry about that. Consider this a review of his hook instead. How about:
- ALT2:
... that Johannes Kalitzke's fifth opera Pym is based on the novel The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket?
- ALT2:
- I kind of disagree with your opinion that Edgar Allan Poe isn't that well-known considering he's one of the biggest names in American literature, but oh well. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 03:19, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
- That's a nice hook but gives more attention to the novel than the composer (just by its long name), and it could be any time after the novel was written. It also says nothing about him being a conductor-composer. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:21, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

New reviewer needed, since hooks have been proposed by prior reviewers in addition to the nominator. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:04, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
