- ... that Lord William Hamilton, Vice-Chamberlain to Caroline of Ansbach, was so poor that the Queen described him and his wife as "handsome beggars"?

- 16px Date, length OK. Hook cited to offline source, AGF. Article well-referenced. But (my ignorance, and maybe others') I did not realise that Caroline of Ansbach was the Queen. So might it be better to amend the hook to:
- ALT1 ... that Lord William Hamilton, Vice-Chamberlain to Queen Caroline of Ansbach, was so poor that she described him and his wife as "handsome beggars"?
- I do not understand why the third word in the article is "Vane". Should it not be "Hamilton" to match the title?
- Unrelated point: should not the ODNB reference be followed by ({{ODNBsub}})? --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 14:51, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
- Silly me, I forgot to replace his wife's second husband's surname with his own surname. I've added the subscription needed template. As for the amended hook, it now suggests that Caroline was queen of Ansbach. How about:
- ALT2 ... that Lord William Hamilton, Vice-Chamberlain to the British queen Caroline of Ansbach, was so poor that the she described him and his wife as "handsome beggars"?
- ...Perhaps it's not necessary to specify his position at court and this might be enough:
- ALT3 ... that Lord William Hamilton was so poor that the British queen Caroline of Ansbach described him and his wife as "handsome beggars"? Surtsicna (talk) 21:41, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
- 16px Thanks, that's fine. I prefer ALT3. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 23:24, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
