- ALT1:... that ensign Robert Duncan was the first person to shoot down a Mitsubishi A6M Zero while in a Grumman F6F Hellcat?
- COMMENT: Made some changes to article, but also rated it as Stub (not rated before). In my opinion, more information should be added before the article is upgraded to Start or better, and before consideration for this DYK nomination David notMD (talk) 14:24, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
: The hook is 242 characters - the hard limit is 200. On other issues: the article was nominated at 1703 chars. D11 says "If an article otherwise qualifies for DYK, it is not a stub" (but D13 points out that these things are subjective). Nominated in time. Neutral. Sourcing accepted AGF (longest paragraph sourced to family-written obituary - may not be reliable - and to a book that I can't preview enough of to see the details about Duncan). No apparent copyvio. QPQ not needed (4th nomination by my count), but this wouldn't meet QPQ if one were needed. › Mortee talk 20:46, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
- Mortee, did you check the ALT1 hook, which is short enough? (I've struck the original hook, since it is far too long.) Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:49, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- D'oh sorry, I entirely missed that. I don't know how that happened. Yes, I'm fine with ALT1. Template:U is it still your view that the article needs expansion (D7) before it can be promoted? If there hadn't been earlier comments I would tick this myself, but I wouldn't want to just overrule you and it's true that his career post-WWII isn't covered in detail. We can always ask for a third opinion if it would be helpful. › Mortee talk 19:18, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- I withdraw my comment. Fine with the article being Start-class, and the DYK going forward. David notMD (talk) 20:45, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
good to go with ALT1. Thanks Template:U › Mortee talk 14:45, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
