Everyone knows that the Lu Klux Klan first met on Christmas Eve 1865, by a small group of ex-Confederate soldiers (6) to form a social club of sorts, the following day the 6 men met again to chose a name. It was proposed to call it the Ku Klos (derived from the Greek word Cuclos which meant circle) and since they were all of Scottish/Irish decent, they added the word Clan and changed the C to K which gave them three Ks. The main thing was that wanted to remain very secretive. A little while later, it was decided to change the word Klos to Klux because there were two colleges just outside Pulaski, TN. One was a Woman's College and the other, a Mans College and both had Greek social clubs and the Klan founders were afraid that someone would figure out the Greek word for circle and they did not want anyone knowing about them, hence the Klux in place of Klos. I mention all this because when I formed our Klan group, The Ku Klos Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. I was amazed that in all this time, no one had ever chose the Ku Klux Klans original name. WE did, and are a very proud group.. Paul LaMonica, Imperial Wizard
