Business Edition Linux Project (BEL Project)
The BEL project is a small group community effort to help users in the small business, schools and non-profit agencies to adopt linux and OpenSource software.
The project works to provide primary assistance by focusing on providing people in those areas with assistance on installation, configuration and administration.
BEL Project hosts a primary website with links to a Wiki, gallery, user forums and other tools to ensure users from these markets have easy access to information.
Another set of tools the BEL Project offers is to provide customized 'remastered' ISO's as LiveCD's of distributions recognized by BEL project members as reliable and usable distros. Most notable among these customized remasters is the 'flagship' remaster project "Server Basic" which is based on PCLinuxOS.
History of BEL Project
BEL Project began a little over two years ago (Fall 1997) as a combination of efforts by merlin and bigbearomaha to provide out of box productivity for SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) users and small business and school users looking for servers with an high productivity "out of the box" experience.
The actual collaboration began as a sub-project of the MyPCLinuxOS community using PCLinuxOS as the original 'base' for these remasters.
Since then, the project has become independent and has 'adopted' five distributions which it feels exemplify the best of the binary distributions GNU/Linux has to offer.
