Woke is a collection of poems by women that reflects the joy and passion in the fight for social justice, tackling topics from discrimination to empathy, and acceptance to speaking out. "Woke" is a wonderful collection of poetry about the world around us - body positivity, racial injustice, standing up for what's right...it's a great way to introduce kids and young teens to the concept of being woke. [1]

Browne’s introduction explains what it means to be woke—“aware of your surroundings”—and connects this awareness to historical movements for justice, stating, “this is where our freedom begins.” [2]
