Revision as of 05:07, 1 June 2008 by imported>Teratornis (Write a document page describing: Template:Google scholar)
| File:Edit-copy green.svg | This is a documentation subpage for Template:Google scholar. It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
Usage
Creates a Google Scholar search link. This template takes two unnamed input parameters:
- A string to search for. (Optional.)
- Link text to display on your wiki page. (Optional.)
Do not use in articles
| 40x40px | Do not use this template in articles (as Google search links are not appropriate in articles). The template is only for talk pages and other process pages (Help desk, WikiProjects, etc.). The template will produce an ugly messagebox warning if you attempt to use it in an article. |
Examples
| Type this | To get this | What it produces, or searches for |
|---|---|---|
| {{google scholar|David Branby}} | David Branby | Search for scholarly articles by, or mentioning: David Branby |
| {{google scholar|Steven Chu}} | Steven Chu | Search for scholarly articles by, or containing: Steven Chu |
Citation tools
{{Google scholar}} may be useful in conjunction with this citation tool:
For example, you could transclude the {{Google scholar}} template on a user subpage, to save a particular search, and repeat the search using Google Scholar enhanced with the Wikipedia citation assistant, from which you could generate pre-filled {{Cite journal}} template calls that you can then paste into articles as citations. (See WP:FOOT for more details.)
