Focusing on the many ways to wear and style natural hair, children joyfully show off beaded braids, updos, and afro puffs. A wonderful addition to library collections for increasing a diverse affirmation of beauty. This would also be a fun book to pick up anytime we need a lift from the vision of sweet young faces. The book highlights different natural hair do's of black children. The last page has an embedded mirror for readers to look at themselves. Young children of color can be self-conscious of their hair. But this book encourages them to embrace all of the different style possibilities with quick, fun words and absolutely beautiful photographs of young children sporting the different 'dos. Canadian Review of Materials commented that this country's children's literature still does not seem to adequately reflect the diversity in Canadian society, hence this book is a valuable addition to the body of works meant for the youngest children.
