This template provides a quick, standard method of citing the online version of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians for music-related articles in Wikipedia.

Usage

The syntax with typical parameters is as follows: {{GroveOnline|title=|author=|author2=|access-date=|url=}}.

The parameters |url= and |author2= are optional. This template also accepts the optional |last-author-amp=, |display-authors=, |author-link=, and |author= parameters up to 10 authors. See {{Cite encyclopedia}} for information on these parameters.

Example usage and its result:

  • {{GroveOnline|title=Dieterich Buxtehude|author=Snyder, Kerala J|access-date=17 September 2025}}
  • Snyder, Kerala J (2001). "Dieterich Buxtehude". In Root, Deane L. (ed.). The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians. Oxford University Press. |access-date= requires |url= (help)
