Template:Uses Wikidata

Usage

Without parameters, queries Wikidata for IPNI id for the taxon that the current article is about.

  • {{IPNI}} or {{IPNI |accessdate=14 January 2026}}

Otherwise, provide id:

  • {{IPNI| id = IPNI id | taxon = taxon name | accessdate = 14 January 2026}}

or a search query:

  • {{IPNI| query = | name = | accessdate = 14 January 2026}}

The |taxon= is automatically italicized if necessary by Module:eFloras. Any italics will be ignored if the module is able to determine the taxonomic rank. Do not place the taxonomic authority in the |taxon= parameter. That may prevent italicization. Instead, place it in the |authority= parameter:

  • {{IPNI |id=77151885-1 |taxon=Homalium glandulosum |authority=Tagane & V.H.Nguyen |accessdate=2016-01-19}}
  • "Script error: No such module "eFloras". Tagane & V.H.Nguyen". International Plant Names Index (IPNI). Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Retrieved 2016-01-19.

By default, the template creates CS1 style citations, based on {{cite web}}. Set |mode=CS2 to create CS2 style citations, based on {{citation}}.

Examples

  1. {{IPNI|id=21501-1|taxon=Sassafras|accessdate=14 January 2026}}
