Usage details

A number of elements of this template need further explanation:

Family - This is the operating system family, examples include Microsoft Windows, Unix, and Unix-like. Linux is not a family, but rather a kernel. All Linux distributions are part of the Unix-like family.

Source model - this does not mean licensing model. The primary source models are open source, closed source and shared source; however, if an OS is referred to by its vendor/provider as "free software" and all the software distributed with it is licensed with an FSF approved software license, then free and open source software may be used. If the source is provided but the use is restricted, use, commercial open source software. Things like Free software, Proprietary software, and Shareware are licensing models and should not be used here.

Kernel type - For Linux distros, this should be [[Linux kernel|Linux]]. It should not be the name of a distro.
