Purpose

This template provides a standardized infobox for the 88 IAU recognized constellations; the modern constellations used in modern day science.

Parameters

  • name(Mandatory) — The name of the constellation, as defined by the IAU
  • abbreviation(Mandatory) — The three letter IAU abbreviation for the constellation
  • genitive(Mandatory) — The genetive form of the constellation's name used in the construction of star names in Bayer designations and Flamsteed designations
  • pronounce(Optional) — The pronounciation of the constellation's name, and the genitive form. Please use IPA, SAMPA and re-spell

  • symbolism(Optional) — the meaning of the constellation
ie. Draco, is "the dragon", so fill in as the dragon
  • RA and dec -- coordinates of the constellation
    • RA – (Mandatory) — the right ascension of the centre of the constellation
    • dec – (Mandatory) — the declination of the centre of the constellation
