| This is a documentation subpage for Template:Long dash. It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
The long dash produces a 3-em dash, which looks like this: " ——— ". It is intended for use in bibliographies where there is more than one title by the same author, to avoid repetition of the author's name.
Example usage
This mark-up:
* Cook, Nicholas. ''A Guide to Musical Analysis''. Oxford University Press, 1987.
* {{long dash}} ''Music: A Very Short Introduction''. Oxford University Press, 1998.
* {{long dash}} and Mark Everist (eds). ''Rethinking Music''. Oxford University Press, 1999.
gives this:

- ——— Music: A Very Short Introduction. Oxford University Press, 1998.
- ——— and Mark Everist (eds). Rethinking Music. Oxford University Press, 1999.
