Usage
This template makes boilerplate language introducing album review sections for Metacritic.
- {{MC|album title, no italics|positive/negative/mixed|score|number of reviews}}
Examples
{{MC|1=New Adventures in Hi-Fi|2=positive|3=100|4=1,996}}
produces:
New Adventures in Hi-Fi was met with positive reviews from critics noted at review aggregator Metacritic. This release received a weighted average score of 100 out of 100, based on 1,996 reviews.
This adds articles to Category:WikiProject Albums articles with Metacritic links.
Possible edits in the future
- Limiting the second field to only display "positive", "negative", and "mixed" (it is presently open-ended text).
- Adding language at the end reading: indicating "Universal Acclaim" (for scores of 81–100), "Generally Favorable Reviews" (61–80), "Mixed or Average Reviews" (40–60), "Generally Unfavorable Reviews" (20–39), or "Overwhelming Dislike" (0–19)
- Convert numeric text strings (score, number of reviewers) to purely numeric options.
- Create tracking categories for errors (e.g. "SUPER-GREAT" for the second field or "200000" for the score).
- Have a field to generate a reference based on a portion of the URI. E.g. <ref name="mc">{{Cite web |url=https://www.metacritic.com/music/reveal/rem |title=''Reveal'' by R.E.M. |publisher=[[Metacritic]] |accessdate=[Today's date]}}</ref> if someone inserts "reveal/rem".
