HMS Revenge (1892)

• ( Back to T:TDYK
• Article history )

• ... that in 1915, the HMS Revenge, the ninth ship of the Royal Navy with that name, became the first ship to be fitted operationally with anti-torpedo bulges?

Improved to Good Article status by Sturmvogel 66 (talk). Nominated by Wilhelmina Will (talk) at 08:40, 6 July 2016 (UTC).

• Note: I will get a QpQ review done in a short while. Herein dwells the greatest dictionary ever composed! (talk) 08:41, 6 July 2016 (UTC)

• Template:Re Sorry about that. In my clumsiness, I mistyped your name. Pinging. Kylo, Rey, Finn, BB-8, C3PO, R2D2, Poe, Han, Chewie, and Leia Consortium (talk) 00:21, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

• Template:Re I have a question about these three sentences: "In April 1904, Revenge and her sister ship Royal Oak both struck a submerged wreck off the Scilly Isles while serving with the Home Fleet, damaging their bottoms. In July 1905, the ship participated in maneuvers with the Reserve Fleet and was then transferred to the Portsmouth Reserve Division on 1 September. In June 1906, she relieved the battleship Colossus as the gunnery training ship at Portsmouth and was assigned to the gunnery school HMS Excellent." Are they all to the same source? Otherwise, all looks well with the sources. Kylo, Rey, Finn, BB-8, C3PO, R2D2, Poe, Han, Chewie, and Leia Consortium (talk) 00:29, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
  • Yep, the same source.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 03:18, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
    • OK then, I guess that issue is resolved. Kylo, Rey, Finn, BB-8, C-3PO, R2-D2, Poe, Han, Chewie, and Leia Consortium (talk) 15:13, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
• Also, the hook is cited in the lead, but I don't see any mention of it in the body. Not a big problem, but quite weird, since I was expecting a little explanation in the body. Otherwise, all's good. QPQ is done, and every other criterion has been fulfilled. Kylo, Rey, Finn, BB-8, C3PO, R2D2, Poe, Han, Chewie, and Leia Consortium (talk) 00:29, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
  • It's an extraordinary claim, so it needed to be cited in the lede. There's a reference to the bulges later in the article, but not the claim since I'd already mentioned it.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 03:18, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
    • All right, I guess that settles the matter of why the claim isn't mentioned later. Kylo, Rey, Finn, BB-8, C-3PO, R2-D2, Poe, Han, Chewie, and Leia Consortium (talk) 15:14, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
  • Another thing Template:U: While it's altruistic that you did a QPQ, it is also unnecessary for this case. Thank you anyway for doing a QPQ. If the questions above are resolved, this nomination could pass. Regards, Kylo, Rey, Finn, BB-8, C-3PO, R2-D2, Poe, Han, Chewie, and Leia Consortium (talk) 00:34, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
    • (Final comment for now, I promise) As for plagiarism, I will assume good faith that the article is not copied from the printed sources. Kylo, Rey, Finn, BB-8, C-3PO, R2-D2, Poe, Han, Chewie, and Leia Consortium (talk) 00:37, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
