Usage

This template formats IPA transcriptions and links them to Help:IPA/Catalan. The transcription should match the conventions of that key; for narrower dialect transcriptions, use {{IPA-all}}, which links to a more complete IPA key.

The first cell in the template is for the transcription, and a second optional cell is a switch that controls the lede. With no second value, the lede Catalan pronunciation: appears:

• {{IPA-ca|tu}} → Catalan pronunciation: [tu]
• {{IPA-ca|tu|pron}} → pronounced [tu]
• {{IPA-ca|tu|lang}} → Catalan: [tu]
• {{IPA-ca|tu|local}} → locally [tu]
• {{IPA-ca|tu|ec}} → Eastern Catalan: [tu]
• {{IPA-ca|tu|wc}} → Western Catalan: [tu]
• {{IPA-ca|tu|IPA}} → IPA: [tu]
• {{IPA-ca|tu|}} → [tu]

Any of these may be combined with a sound file in an optional third cell:

• {{IPA-ca|tu|IPA|Es-tú.ogg}} → IPA: [tu] ()

For the default lede, however, a placeholder such as ‹-› is required in the second cell:

• {{IPA-ca|tu|-|Es-tú.ogg}} → Catalan pronunciation: [tu] ()
