Selection Procedure- Four US-based teams qualified for the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League. Due to a change in format to the tournament, two qualifiers came from each of the 2017 and 2018 MLS seasons.[1] This combined qualification method was used for the 2019 tournament only. For the 2017 season, the following teams qualified:
- The winner of MLS Cup 2017; this berth was reallocated to the best US team in aggregate points in both 2017 and 2018 MLS seasons (New York Red Bulls) as Toronto FC won the Cup.
- The winner of the 2017 U.S. Open Cup (Sporting Kansas City).
One Canada-based team qualified for the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League, also entering at the second phase (NOTE: Canadian teams could not qualify through MLS):- The winner of both the 2016 and 2017 Canadian Championship (Toronto FC)

Usage
During season
During the season, teams may qualify for the 2018–19 CONCACAF Champions League prior to the end of the season. In that case, set |status_XXX=Q and |note_XXX= to the method by which the team qualified, e.g. |note_CHI=Won the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and set |resultX=CCL for that team, ensuring that X is always kept equal to |teamX= for that team.
After season complete
Set |resultX=CCL for the teams which qualified for the Champions League and clear |status_XXX= for all teams, except for the MLS Cup champion (set |status_XXX=C) and the Supporters' Shield winners (set |status_XXX=X).
