The community has completed its [[WP:ACE{{{1}}}|{{{1}}} election]] of the Arbitration Committee members. Clerical matters arising from the transition between the {{{1}}} and 2024 committee sittings will be handled in accordance with the following procedures. All times specified are in the UTC time zone, in which the current time is 12:12, Saturday, March 18, 2023 (UTC).
Outgoing arbitrators

The following arbitrators are exiting the committee: {{{outgoing}}}

These arbitrators may participate in any business started prior to 1 January – ie up to and including 23:59, 31 December 2023 (UTC). This includes:

  • cases that are requested prior to 1 January 2024
  • requests for clarification or amendment created prior to 1 January 2024
  • nostra sponte business created prior to 1 January, including obvious alternatives to or derivatives of earlier motions

Participation in business includes vote changes, comments, and other official actions. For example, where a case request is made prior to 1 January and moves towards rejection, an outgoing arbitrator is entitled on and after 1 January to vote to accept (or to change their vote from reject to accept) the case request or to participate in any motion to dispose of the request brought on or after 1 January.

Incoming arbitrators

The following arbitrators are joining the committee: {{{incoming}}}

Prior to 1 January, these arbitrators-elect will be listed at WP:AC/M in a separate list from the active and inactive sitting members of the committee. They will be entitled to comment on open arbitration case requests, given the possibility that such business will carry into their terms commencing 1 January 2024. By convention, they will not comment on other business (such as requests for clarification or amendment).

The existing committee will review its open business independently of the arbitrators-elect, and resolve to either despatch any existing cases prior to 1 January 2024 or to carry them into the new term. If, in the opinion of the committee, a case will not have closed prior to this date then the arbitrators-elect will be asked to decide whether to become active on that case. For expediency, such arbitrators may notify the clerks that they should be made active on that case; and they are entitled to cast votes on a proposed decision, vote in motions to close or dismiss, and otherwise vote on committee business within that case prior to 1 January. However, such votes will not be formally counted or otherwise take effect until 00:00, 1 January 2024 (UTC). Such arbitrators may comment on and otherwise participate in cases in capacities other than as a vote-caster.

Incoming arbitrators may be listed as drafting arbitrators in a new case in line with the committee's usual procedures for designating a drafter.

Arbitrators re-elected

The following member(s) were re-elected to the committee: {{{reelected}}}

and will be treated for the purposes of this year's transition as a continuing member alongside the other sitting members elected in 2022 for the 2023/Template:Str rightc term.

You can contact the committee clerks at WT:AC/C.

Template documentation

This template is used to display arrangements for the transition from one Arbitration Committee sitting to the next after a Wikipedia community election. Elections are generally held near the end of a calendar year, and the successful candidates spent a time as arbitrators-elect before their terms formally commence on 1 January.

By convention, the community expects arbitrators to be up to speed quite quickly – and therefore some activity as an arbitrator-elect before their term's formal commencement will take place.

This template is generally displayed at the clerks' co-ordination page and other general committee pages for as long as the arrangements are relevant.

To use this template:

{{Arb transition
|1=2018
|incoming=
* {{user|Arbitrator 1}}
* {{user|Arbitrator 2}}
|outgoing=
* {{user|Retiring user 1}}
* {{user|Retiring user 2}}
|reelected=
* {{user|Two more years}}
}}

The year should be replaced by the year of the election. Avoid magic words like {{CURRENTYEAR}} which will render incorrectly after New Year's Eve.

You can omit |relected= if no arbitrators are continuing on.

Obviously, replace the users list at |incoming= with the usernames of every arbitrator-elect and at |outgoing= with any arbitrators whose terms end on 31 December.
