I'm pretty sure a USG image is public domain whether or not it's on Flickr, Facebook, a .gov website, or an old photo album. The specific image in the hook is from a Flickr account that is undoubtedly the official Flickr account as it is linked from the unit's .mil website ([1]). I don't know for certain, though, so am pinging Sfan00 IMG to clarify in case I'm wrong. LavaBaron (talk) 18:16, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Why don't you ask them, what status the image is? Some images on Government websites are third party so don't come under the official exemption. Sfan00 IMG

Ask who? The government? LavaBaron (talk) 18:25, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Good news - Obama wrote me back and told me it's cool, we can use the pics. (Just to be on the safe side, however, I've replaced them throughout with alternate ones.) LavaBaron (talk) 18:54, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
