... that the fatal shooting of her son inspired Lucy McBath to become involved in politics?- ALT1:
... that the fatal shooting of her son and the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting inspired Lucy McBath to run for the United States House of Representatives?

Hi, I came by to promote ALT0, but I don't see the hook fact stated in the article. (Note that the CNN source says it "may" have inspired her activism.) Yoninah (talk) 22:34, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
- Template:Re Hmm. It may not be in explicit terms, come to think of it. I'm out of free AJC views for the month already, so I can't re-read those links at the moment. Here are two alts... – Muboshgu (talk) 22:45, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

... that after the fatal shooting of her son, Lucy McBath became involved in politics? - ALT3
... that after the fatal shooting of her son and the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, Lucy McBath decided to run for a seat in the United States House of Representatives?
- Sorry, I don't find either of those very hooky. I looked at the first AJC article and saw exactly what you wrote in your article. Yoninah (talk) 22:54, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
- I hope it wasn't exactly the same given close paraphrasing is bad. How are those less hook-y than ALT0? – Muboshgu (talk) 23:01, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
- No, it wasn't close paraphrasing; I mean it was the same information. The earlier hooks are much more hooky with that word "inspired". Perhaps if one of the advocacy things she did was very popular, you could write "that after the fatal shooting of her son, Lucy McBath did this." I'm not finding much hooky in the article; is there any more information that you could add with an eye to a hook? Yoninah (talk) 23:16, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
- I've added a new source to the article, and thereby propose hook:
- ALT4:
... that Democratic Party congressional candidate Lucy McBath made her decision to run for office during breakfast?(Source: here, "The tipping point, however, came during a breakfast meeting last June with a state legislator, ...'I just sat there for a moment and then it rolled off my tongue. That’s when I said, OK. And I’ve been off and running ever since.'")
- ALT4:
- I'm intentionally leaving out the details of the specific breakfast. Thoughts? ―Biochemistry🙴❤ 23:57, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- I guess so. Seems a little trivial. Should be "Democratic Party congressional candidate". Yoninah (talk) 00:00, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- Perhaps there's a way to make it more hooky. You're right--that was a little ambiguous of me; I've updated the ALT4 hook accordingly. How about this?
- ALT5:
... that a breakfast made Democratic Party congressional candidate Lucy McBath decide to run for office? - It was, after all, a specific breakfast. I'm a little wary of violating WP:BLP if I suggest a hook that is too likely to be misconstrued.―Biochemistry🙴❤ 00:47, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
- Let's go back to the original premise. How about:
- ALT6:
... that the fatal shooting of her son inspired Lucy McBath to advocate for gun control and ultimately run for public office? - Pinging Template:Ping. Yoninah (talk) 20:19, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- Template:Re I personally prefer the original premise, so I like ALT6. Thanks for the discussion and ping. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:50, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- Template:Ping thank you. One more question: should the end of the ALT6 hook be "and ultimately run for Congress"? Yoninah (talk) 23:05, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
- Template:Re Sure, I'd be fine with that. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:19, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

- ALT7: ... that the fatal shooting of her son inspired Lucy McBath to advocate for gun control and ultimately run for the United States Congress?
- Great, thanks. Template:Ping could you sign off on ALT7? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 23:23, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
I like it! Absolutely--ALT7 approved. ―Biochemistry🙴❤ 01:57, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
