Ned Garvin

  • ... that baseball pitcher Ned Garvin lost his job and was fined US$100 after shooting a bar owner in 1902?

Is this pic on the right good for use on DYK? --PFHLai (talk) 12:47, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
Yes but I guess since it is public domain, you are allowed to improve it. Suggestions include removing the surrounding frame and resizing the portrait. Makeandtoss (talk) 13:02, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for looking into the pic. I don't quite have the skills to edit/resize it, and I wasn't sure how it would render at DYK size, but it's always nice to have a pic for a DYK if someone is up to editing it. EricEnfermero (Talk) 06:38, 28 March 2016 (UTC)

Ned Garvin

For use on MainPage in early April, at the start of the upcoming baseball season:

  • ALT1 : ... that pitcher Ned Garvin (pictured) was fined US$100 and let go by the Chicago White Stockings in 1902 after he shot a bar owner and pistol-whipped a policeman?
  • ALT2 : ... that pitcher Ned Garvin (pictured) was released by the Chicago White Stockings during the 1902 baseball season for the protection of the other players on his team?

--PFHLai (talk) 19:57, 28 March 2016 (UTC)

  • Symbol confirmed.svg I prefer PHFLai's alts, especially ALT2, for the lead slot on April 3, the opening of the 2016 Major League Baseball season. Both hooks are verified and cited inline. Image (use the one without the border) is public domain. Rest of review per Makeandtoss. Yoninah (talk) 22:20, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
