Old Harbor U.S. Life Saving Station
- ... that the Old Harbor U.S. Life Saving Station (pictured), built in 1897 to rescue shipwrecked mariners, was itself rescued from the sea, and given a new life?
Source: "By 1977, waves were breaking against the foundation of the Old Harbor Station." (p.19, Cape Cod Easterly Shore Beach Erosion Study (PDF).) "To save the historic station, the NPS cut it in half, loaded it onto a barge, and floated it to Provincetown, where it weathered the Storm of ’78 in Provincetown Harbor." - Template:U, thanks so much for reviewing this nomination. I apologize for my slow response, as I was away from technology for the weekend. I have not done a QPQ, because I currently have four DYK's under my belt, and this would be my fifth. It's been a couple of years since my last DYK, but if I recall correctly, DYK "newbies" (with less than 5 credits) were exempted from this requirement. If that has changed, I'd be more than happy to do a review. —grolltech(talk) 04:40, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- Wow, you learn something everyday - Sorry, I had obviously not read that section closely enough. Keep up the good work! Article now good to go. Hughesdarren (talk) 04:52, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
